Cacao: The Holistic High

In our culture, parties are more or less synonymous with alcohol and having a hangover the next day.

Until now!

The Sacred Cacao Bar is a party with a purpose, where we bring people together without the need for drugs or alcohol. It’s a new way to party, where no one has to apologise for drunk dialling or spend the next day in bed with a headache. With more and more people looking for healthy alternatives to alcohol, we’ve put together a list of five reasons why to choose cacao instead.

1. Health

We know the detrimental effects long-term consumption of alcohol can have on the human body. Over time it degenerates the liver, weakens the pancreas and causes damage to the central nervous system. Drinking alcohol also affects brain and reproductive health and the list goes on.

Cacao on the other hand is a superfood full of antioxidants, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc. It improves cardiovascular health, nourishes the brain and oxygenates our whole body, increasing blood supply to all our organs. It creates a holistic high without the compromise of our health!

2. Mood

Cacao increases the production and uptake of oxytocin and serotonin, chemicals which make us feel happy and relaxed. It also contains a naturally occurring chemical called phenylethylamine which stimulates the brain cells to release endorphins. Cacao actually shares some commonalities in molecular structure found in substances such as MDMA, cannabis and psilocybin. Learn more.

Alcohol, conversely, is a depressant meaning it slows the brain down and results in impaired cognitive function. It affects memory, concentration and emotions. Alcohol is known to contribute towards feelings of depression and anxiety, not to mention our sense of self.

3. Self-esteem

Choosing healthy alternatives is a wonderful way to show ourselves love, especially since it can take a lot of willpower to deny the offer of a drink when we’re out partying. That’s why Sacred events are safe spaces where people can come together and enjoy live music without having to imbibe toxins.

Founder Dan Koch shares, I love cacao, and I want to share that with the world in a way I feel both people and planet will greatly benefit from. When people respect their body, they respect themselves, nature, each other. The flow on effect of that is immeasurable.”

It feels good to respect our bodies as sanctuaries! When we pour love into our being, instead of pollution, we choose empowerment.

4. Connection

Sacred is changing people’s perspective about whether we really need intoxicants to lower inhibitions or find connection. Conversations over cacao are characterised by openness and understanding rather than impaired clarity and slurred speech. We can open up to others in a way which feels good, expressing ourselves in a way that is true to who we are and how we really feel.

Cacao raises our vibration over the barriers so we have better, deeper conversations and build long-lasting connections.

5. Culture

There’s nothing more rebellious than being part of a counterculture that says no thank you to intoxication. We don’t miss out on anything when our heads are clear and hearts are open. A paradigm shift away from inebriation and towards sobriety is making waves - dare to be part of it!

Sacred events bring all the elements we love about partying, powered by  incredible plant medicine grown under the canopy of the Amazon rainforest. According to Ancient Mayan Legend:

Whenever there is an imbalance between humans and nature, cacao makes its way out of the jungle to restore the planet to a state of harmony.

The Sacred Full Moon Ceremony is a welcoming environment where people can dance freely, enjoy meeting friends and making new connections. They take place every month under the full moon, where we gather to honour the land, the medicine, and celebrate the work we’re all doing to bring harmony to the world we love.
